Hey friends!

I know that I haven’t posted any updates in a while, but now that school is out (and I dropped my summer class WOOT) I will have a  lot more time to dedicate to the Etsy shop. That being said I am cooking up a update that will be worth the wait. It will consist of more pretty vintage dresses, some geekery wall art and jewelry, and some vintage household items. So keep in touch for some really special things coming up.

Hello there!

I just wanted to take  some time to highlight one of my wonderful friends, Doren Chapman’s recently created comic book blog/ strip Winslow the Ghost. It has a beautiful layout and his artwork is amazing. I love his use of watercolors, and so far it’s REALLY good. I’m looking forward to learning more about Winslow’s back story and his upcoming ghostly adventures. It’s a weekly strip updated every Monday, so go on over and check it out!

I also would like to mention my amazingly talented boyfriend’s comic web comic blog  My Dumb Mind Creations. His little doodles and comic strips are SO funny. He also has an ongoing strip called the Dino Time Chronicles that is really cute. I could never do what he does with a Wacom Bamboo tablet, it’s great you should check out his work!

I’m all for personalized gifts, but I particularly enjoy them when they’re for someone that loves Ghibli more than I do.

Fashion on a Budget- Varsity Sweater Wardrobe Remix

18 Feb

Hello there thrift lovers and deal seekers, I have put together another instalment of wardrobe remix (click the link for my first remix) to show my newest thrift store find and obsession. I have come to realize that thrift store shopping all of these years has really made me a cheap person when it comes to clothing. I was just talking to a friend just last night about how I wouldn’t pay $30 for a shirt let alone $130 for a shirt, is that such an unrealistic way of thinking? I don’t think so! So here is a darling outfit I put together that was purchased on the cheap! It is possible to find hidden treasure amongst the racks.

First off I need to boast about this vintage letterman’s sweater that is from 1966. From what my brother tells me it’s probably from Branson High School here in Missouri, because they are the pirates and it has a battleship on it. I’m not sure though. It has the name “Kiper” embroidered in the tag, and it almost makes me want to track the person down. Not really though in fears that they are dead. It’s in REALLY good shape, the red is so vibrant, and it seems to fit me perfectly! It was only $1.49 at my favorite thrift store. I just love it !

The necklace that I’m sporting is from Forever 21 (another obsession) it’s a bedazzled little copper camera, that is so dainty and cute, and at $1.50 who could say no.

My little oxford shoes are from Urban Outfitters and are the most expensive things I’m wearing. They are from Deena & Ozzy and where $48.00. I am in LOVE with these Maryjane platform wedges that they have on sale right now, but I am afraid it would make me a towering giant. *sigh* worst part of being tall!

Here is my outfit break down:

Jeans and necklace: $11.30
Sweater: $1.49
Shoes: $48.00

Grand total of: $60.79

Featured Etsy Treasuries!

15 Feb

Hey There!

I would just like to share a couple of Etsy treasuries that Kawaii K*tsch has been featured in.  In case your like huh? treasury? It is a collection of items that goes with a main theme or feel or overall idea on Etsy. The first collection we where featured in was an abc’s of food treasury. It’s a collection of little handmade felt food items. Our Onigiri Sushi roll was featured, I am very proud to be listed amongst some of these amazing felt foods. My favorites are the felt doughnut ornament and the felt grape juice box.

The Second treasury we have been featured in is titled Remember when 3D was cool? It has our Rad 3-D Glasses Push Plush Pin Cushion in it. I really like the 3D glasses cross stitch and the Fat Cat Movie Critic featured in the list also, so cool!

So please go and check out our little items that our getting some attention, and be on the look out for some new items to hit our shop soon. I have been having so much fun finding amazing goodies for the shop.

OH! and Don’t forget about cheap discounted Valentine’s day candy, that’s the best thing about holidays!

HiFi DIY- Plush Valentines and Gift Tags

12 Feb

Valentine’s day is just a few days away! I am crazy about  making gifts for my loves and I had the wonderful idea  to create valentines and gift tags out of plush felt hearts. It’s a super easy way to make someone feel special and to personalize something for some one you love.

First things first

Pick out the colors of felt you would like to use. You can go with the traditional pink and red, or go with your sweeties favorite color to make it your own.

Second

Double your felt over, outline your heart (free hand or from a template) and cut out your design. You can do a wide array of sizes from small for gift tags to large for a Valentine. Once you have cut out your felt, Cut out one card stock heart of the exact same size or a tad smaller.

Third

Embroider any little design you wish on the front piece of the heart, I chose to do some XOXOs.

Fourth

Line up your heart pieces with your design on the outside and stitch the outside edges of your heart, leaving a little space to stuff in your stuffing.

Fifth

Fill up your little heart all the way up. You can use just regular stuffing or to spice things up and use potpourri or any other sorts of smell goods.

Sixth

Stitch your little opening closed,  take your card stock heart and write out your little note. It could just be a simple I love you, an inside joke, or even a poem. Get creative! After you have professed your love glue the card stock to the opposite side of your embroidery design, I used hot glue because it’s my BFF.

…and your done!  If you want to use them as gift tags fasten a small loop of ribbon to the back of your card stock with glue before attaching it to your felt.

So I hope you give something pretty to your sweetheart this year, that you can say came directly from your heart. Happy crafting!
